Research Overview
Current ProgramsThe Institute maintains several active research programs, all focused on our core mission: understanding how memories form, persist, and—crucially—how they can be selectively processed.
Our methodology combines rigorous scientific protocols with REDACTED techniques developed during the Institute's founding era. All procedures are perfectly safe and conducted with participant wellbeing as our primary concern.
The MDU-7 Apparatus
Technical SpecificationRev. 7.3 (2024)
The Memory Destruction Unit, Series 7 (MDU-7) represents the culmination of five decades of research and development. Unlike its predecessors, the MDU-7 is fully portable and has an excellent safety record.
-
Intake
Subject completes Form CRI-7701 and receives orientation from Participant Liaison. -
Memory Submission
Subject records unwanted memory on provided card (Form CRI-MEM-01). Memory is sealed in processing envelope. -
Processing Preparation
Envelope inserted into MDU-7 input slot. Subject positions themselves at designated observation point. -
Processing Cycle
MDU-7 initiates automated sequence. Note: Audiovisual effects are normal. Do not be alarmed. -
Completion
Cycle concludes. Remains dispensed from output slot. Subject debriefed by research personnel.
Do not look directly into the Processing Chamber during active cycles. While no permanent effects have been documented, several subjects reported "seeing something" they were unable to describe afterward. This is considered a feature, not a bug.
Current Studies
Active ProtocolsObjective: Evaluate participant-reported outcomes following MDU-7 processing of self-selected unwanted memories.
Methodology: Subjects submit memories for processing and complete post-session questionnaires. Follow-up surveys conducted at 24 hours, 7 days, and 30 days.
Current Enrollment: Actively recruiting
Objective: Investigate the effects of anonymous memory sharing between participants.
Methodology: Subjects may optionally contribute processed memories to a communal archive. Other subjects may view (but not reclaim) these memories. Social dynamics observed.
Note: The Memory Exchange Wall has become an unexpectedly popular feature. People are strange.
