Mission Statement

Adopted: 1973
Revised: 1991, 2008, 2024

The Cognitive Research Institute exists to advance humanity's understanding of the mind through rigorous scientific inquiry. Our work focuses on the mechanisms of perception, memory formation, and selective cognition.

We believe that the mind, like any system, can be understood, documented, and—where appropriate—optimized.

"To know the mind is to know what can be forgotten."
— Dr. REDACTED, Founding Director, 1973

Institute Leadership

Current Roster

The Institute operates under the guidance of distinguished researchers and administrators. Personnel files are available on a need-to-know basis.

Executive Director CLEARANCE: ALPHA

Dr. REDACTED

Ph.D. Cognitive Psychology, REDACTED University, 1968
Appointed: 2012 | Previous Appointments: REDACTED

Dr. REDACTED brings over four decades of experience in memory research and institutional management. Prior to joining CRI, they served as REDACTED for REDACTED. Their published works include "The Architecture of Forgetting" (1985) and REDACTED (1994, recalled).

"A pleasure to work with. Very thorough."

Chief Research Officer

Dr. Elena Voss

Ph.D. Neuroscience, MIT, 1997
Appointed: 2018 | Specialization: Selective Memory Encoding

Dr. Voss oversees all research protocols and apparatus development. She led the MDU-7 project and has been instrumental in improving participant satisfaction rates to their current level of 94.7%. The remaining 5.3% have been REDACTED.

Director of Operations

Marcus Chen

M.B.A., Stanford, 2004
Appointed: 2020 | Previous: Logistics, REDACTED Division

Mr. Chen ensures smooth day-to-day operations across all Institute facilities. His background in REDACTED logistics has proven invaluable for mobile deployment scenarios. He describes his management style as "supportive but firm."

Participant Liaison

Dr. June Holloway

Psy.D. Clinical Psychology, Columbia, 2010
Appointed: 2021 | Specialization: Participant Wellness

Dr. Holloway serves as the primary point of contact for all research subjects. She designed our current intake process and post-processing support protocols. Participants frequently describe her as "reassuring" and "very good at maintaining eye contact."

Core Values

Ref: CRI-VAL-1973-R4
  • Scientific Rigor
All procedures follow documented protocols. Deviation requires Form CRI-DEV-12.
  • Participant Wellbeing
The experience should feel cathartic, never cruel. Discomfort is temporary.
  • Institutional Continuity
We have always been here. We will continue to be here.
  • Documentation
If it wasn't documented, it didn't happen. If it was documented and redacted, it especially happened.
  • Voluntary Participation
All subjects participate of their own free will. Probably.
